The core function of fog lights

2025-07-16

Front fog lights: Usually yellow, installed below the front bumper, using special spotlight glass to control the illumination angle at 30°-45°, providing a high-brightness scattered light source within a range of 200 meters, penetrating dense fog and illuminating the outline of the road ahead. Rear fog lights: Red, installed 150-300mm behind the rear C-pillar, with a higher luminous intensity than the taillights, and can be identified by more than 80% of vehicles within a distance of 200 meters, warning the following vehicles to maintain a safe distance.

Illumination and warning dual function
Front fog lights: Usually yellow, installed below the front bumper, using special condensing glass to control the illumination angle at 30°-45°, providing a high-brightness scattered light source within a range of 200 meters, penetrating dense fog and illuminating the outline of the road ahead.
Rear fog lights: Red, installed 150-300mm behind the C-pillar at the rear of the vehicle, with a luminous intensity greater than the taillights, and can be identified by more than 80% of vehicles within a distance of 200 meters, warning the following vehicles to maintain a safe distance.
Scientific principle support
Yellow light has a longer wavelength (570-590nm), less scattering effect in rain and fog, and stronger penetration than white light; red light has the longest wavelength (620-750nm), has a strong warning effect in visual cognition, and is not easily attenuated by fog.
